Black History Month
Black History is vital every day of the year — however, February is dedicated to the heritage and history of Black people across the world. This month, take the time to learn about the history of Black Canadians, and Black individuals around the world, but don’t only look to the past. Remember that history is happening around us now.
Learn about Black lead movements, like Black Lives Matter, Black business owners in your area, and organizations that support Black people in your community. Take this time to listen to the voices of Black people and raise them up.
Consider how you incorporate Black research, Black history, and Black Scholars into your course materials. Do you have “a day” dedicated to equity-seeking groups, or do incorporate and highlight these voices throughout your course?
