Our current Collective Agreement expires August 31st, which means it is time to start preparing for another round of bargaining. One of our first tasks is the election of a bargaining team. Besides the President (Mitch Champagne) and Unit 1 VP (Mark Astrom), there are 4 elected members--two designates and two alternates. Alternates assist with bargaining prep, and attend negotiations when designates are unavailable.
This will be the first opportunity for members to provide the team with direction. Bargaining team mandates are democratically set by members of the local. It's important that we hear as many voices as possible in this process.
